A strong cold front will arrive on Sunday, bringing scattered showers to the area and much cooler temperatures.
Tonight, mostly clear and cold with a light freeze. Lows will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s. High pressure will build across Alabama on Tuesday, resulting in mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures.
A Freeze Warning will be in effect from 11 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday. The Cold Weather Advisory, due to wind, will be in effect from 4 a.m. - 9 a.m. Friday. Warmer temperatures on Saturday as cloudy skies develop late. The warmer afternoon highs will keep the ground cover too warm to support accumulation.
Clouds may linger early Sunday morning as the system tracks well to our south and east but clearing is expected quickly. Highs will only reach the upper 30s in most areas, making for a chilly day. Lows will drop back into the 20s and teens by Monday morning, with dry weather expected for MLK Day.

But that’s expected to change this weekend. The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office is forecasting a “widespread freeze” for the early hours of Sunday morning, when the temperature is expected to be at or below freezing for eight hours.
